If I asked you where your feelings of security come from, what would you reply?
I used to have a list of things I knew I needed to give me security – money in the bank, a home where I felt safe and a loving husband – to name a few of them.
Then I lost my husband, nearly lost my money and could have lost my house – and the world didn’t end. I survived and, after a while, thrived.
Here’s a video clip from one of Jamie Smart’s Clarity training courses where I share an insight I had about the inner strength we all have inside of us, and the realisation that security doesn’t come from things outside of us…
My thanks to Jamie Smart for allowing me to share the video.
As he says our security doesn’t come from outside of us. That’s just our thoughts playing out in the moment.
And yet so often we fall into the trap of misunderstanding – believing it’s the world “out there” that gives rise to our feelings of insecurity, or any other feelings for that matter.
It really does seem that way!
But consider this – what gives rise to our experience of the world?
Two people can be in the same place at the same time and have a totally different experience of the same scenario playing out in front of them. One may be thoroughly enjoying themselves, the other feeling miserable. Why?
Because our reality is created by our thinking in the moment, and our feelings are a reflection of our thinking.
In other words, we only ever experience the feeling of our thinking – that is our reality!
We live our life from the inside-out.
Grapple with this intellectually and you’ll go round and round in circles. Allow your innate wisdom to bubble up in the form of an insight and you’ll begin to have new thinking – and that will transform your life.
